The City of Morenci's building and property maintenance regulation is governed by the following codes:

- State of Michigan Building Code -
The Michigan Building code is maintained by the State of Michigan Bureau of Construction Codes and applies to all new and existing construction.  This code does override any local conflicting ordinances.

- City of Morenci Ordinances  - 
This is compilation of local laws created by city charter and passed over the years by City Council.

- International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) - 
The IPMC is a property maintenance code developed by the International Code Council (ICC) to regulate property maintenance.  This code was adopted by city council but is overridden by local ordinance.
