BRUSH TO BE ACCEPTED AT MORENCI DPW FACILITY AGAIN ON DECCEMBER 9, 2019
MORENCI, MI – Starting on December 9, 2019, brush will be accepted again at the Morenci Department of Public Works (DPW) Facility. Residents are asked to follow posted signs at the facility for where to place leaves and grass, along with where to place brush. Brush will be accepted behind the Morenci DPW Facility.
In bringing back this service, City Administrator / Clerk Michael Sessions stated the following:
“Assistant City Superintendent Eric Emmons and I had a discussion on how we could provide better service to our residents. We feel that this is a common question we get: where can we put brush? We don’t want residents sticking brush at the curb all winter and it just sitting there. It makes our community look bad. So, we devised a plan to collect outstanding brush at the curb, along with giving residents a place to drop off brush. We will be discontinuing collecting brush from the curb in the next week as we simply do not have enough manpower to do this every week, and in turn, we encourage residents to drop brush off at the DPW Facility.”
There were a few piles of brush left over after curbside brush pickup services ended for the year in October. Those piles will be picked up by the Morenci DPW in the next week, but those services will end from the Morenci DPW after next week. Residents are then asked to discard brush at behind the Morenci DPW Facility.
Curbside brush pickup service will begin the second week of April in 2020 with Borcks Outdoor Service being the purveyor of such service.
