The General Election is scheduled Tuesday, November 7, and will determine Morenci's next mayor and the city councilor to fill the 2-year city council seat. The candidates in the mayoral race are current council member Jeff Lampson and former councilor Tracy Schell. Gary Pfund and incumbent council member Kori Christle, who was appointed to fill the vacancy in February, will be on the ballot to contest the 2-year city council term. Additionally, three candidates are running unopposed for the 4-year council seats: incumbent councilors Jerome Bussell and Diane Molitierno, along with Tess Stiver.
City Hall is open for voter registration during regular hours, including Election Day. Additionally, City Hall will be open November 4 and 5 from 8:00 a.m. until noon for voter registration and absentee ballot submissions.
Reminder that these actions are prohibited within 100 feet of the polling location entrance:
- Encouraging voters to vote for a candidate or issue
- Distributing campaign materials
- Soliciting petition signatures
- Requesting donations, selling tickets, etc.
- Wearing campaign gear of issue/candidate on the ballot
