An update from DPW Supervisor, Ted Hutchison: The 24-hour test results have come back clear for the City of Morenci water system. While these results are an indication that there is nothing wrong with the water, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) requires the boil water advisory remain in effect until a second 24-hour test returns clear. An update will be posted on our website, Facebook page, and sent to City of Morenci Alert System subscribers when the next 24-hour test results are received, and when the water boil advisory is lifted. As a reminder, the water is safe for bathing and laundering. Drinking and cooking water should be boiled for at least five minutes before it is used. If the water is used for drinking purposes, it should be allowed to cool in a sealed container. Please contact Ted Hutchison (517)306-0023 with any questions.
