The City of Morenci has been awarded $240,503 through the Community Service Infrastructure Fund (CSIF) grant program. This funding will be used to improve local roads, including N. Summit Street, Sims Highway, and Page Street.
The grant is part of a $5.1 million statewide initiative aimed at helping small communities across Michigan repair their local roads more quickly and efficiently. The program supports road resurfacing, crack sealing, and other preservation work in municipalities with limited resources. The goal is to reduce the time and money spent by drivers on vehicle repairs and make commuting easier for residents and visitors.
“We’re grateful for this state funding, which helps us stretch our local dollars and improve the quality of life for our residents,” said Jeff Bell, City Administrator. "By focusing on these roads, we’ll be able to improve travel for everyone in our community."
The work is expected to begin in spring 2025, with additional updates provided as the project moves forward.
