Welcome to the team

City of morenci welcomes Travis kruse and Christa davis
The City of Morenci has recently welcomed three new employees to its Department of Public Works (DPW). Christa Davis and Matt Szymanski were hired during the October 21 City Council meeting, and Travis Kruse joined the department following his hire on September 16.

Christa Davis has taken on the role as Assistant Cemetery Sexton. She is working alongside Cemetery Sexton Eric Emmons to gain in-depth knowledge of cemetery operations. Davis will also focus on the City’s public trees and landscaping, participating in training funded by the Department of Natural Resources grant. In this role, she will oversee care and maintenance of public trees in the cemetery, parks, downtown and rights-of-way.

Matt Szymanski joins the department as a general laborer, where he will handle a range of tasks to support the city’s infrastructure and public works operations. His duties include assisting with maintenance, repairs, and other essential services provided by the DPW. Szymanski was unavailable for a photo at the time of newsletter production.

Travis Kruse was promoted to Team Leader during the November 18 City Council meeting. As Team Leader, Kruse works with the crew on projects and oversees the department’s daily operations to ensure projects are completed effectively. The Team Leader position became vacant when Timothy Schisler left the City of Morenci to take a position with the City of Adrian as a full-time firefighter. Schisler’s contributions to the DPW are appreciated, and the City wishes him success in his new role.

City welcomes Danielle Jagielski as MPD administrative assistant

At the special City Council meeting on November 4, Danielle Jagielski was hired as the part-time Administrative Assistant for the Morenci Police Department. In this role, she handles a variety of clerical tasks, including managing documents, processing FOIA requests, overseeing purchases, and logging camera footage.

Danielle replaces Elizabeth Bouts, who retired from the department in early November and relocated to Arizona. The City thanks Elizabeth for her years of dedicated service and wishes her all the best in her retirement.
