2022 marks the tenth year Morenci resident, Traci Bovee, has organized a Thanksgiving meal for Morenci and surrounding communities. This year's dinner will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24th from noon until 3 p.m. (or when food runs out). Dine-in or carry-out is available at the Morenci Sportsman’s Club and the Lyons Friendship Hall. Delivery is available for homebound residents. There is no charge, but a freewill donation will be accepted from those able to help offset costs.
Traci is in need of volunteers to help with meal preparation beginning on Tuesday, November 22nd, and with set up, serving, delivery, and clean up on Thanksgiving Day.
Meal ingredients needed are:
- 15 turkeys
- 8 hams
- 40 cans of corn
- 40 cans green beans
- 12 bags of cranberries
- 20+ cans chicken broth
- 2 cases cream of mushroom soup
- 3 lg. bags of French fried onions
- 3 bags of cooking onions
- 8 boxes of turkey bags
- 2 bottles of sage
- 400 dinner rolls
- 2 canisters coffee
- 2 lg. lemonade concentrate
- 4 restaurant size Miracle Whip
- 3 lg. bags of sugar
- 10 bunches of celery
- 15 dozen eggs
- 5 bags of carrots
- 6 heads of cauliflower
- 6 heads of broccoli
- 10 heads of cabbage
- 15 bags cherry tomatoes
- 20 cucumbers
- 2 jugs white vinegar
- 20+ loaves of bread
- 23 disposable deep tin pans
- Homemade desserts
