The City of Morenci has partnered with Thomas P. Miller and Associates (TPMA) to complete a market research study focused on meeting local retail needs. “This is a first step to getting the baseline information that grocers and other retailers will need to make decisions on locating to Morenci,” said Heather Sarnac, Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of Morenci. The study will include an analysis of available data about potential retail needs, such as grocery and hardware, that exist in the Morenci area. The study will include information regarding infrastructure, distribution, consumer markets, requirements, and gaps and barriers. TPMA will provide the city with best practices from across the country. "The TPMA team is proud to work alongside city staff on this project. Efforts are already underway, and we’re dedicated to providing the highest quality analysis we can. Community impact isn’t just a core value of our firm: it is a core value of our project team,” said Lindsay Bloos, Senior Consultant and Project Lead. TPMA anticipates an on-site visit in July to present findings to the City Council, tour sites, and meet with City staff regarding potential next steps for retail business attraction. This project is funded through a Federal Economic Development Administration Grant in partnership with Lenawee Now. About TPMA: Thomas P. The City of Morenci is proud to offer the opportunity to honor a Veteran or current military service member with a customized 18x36" light pole banner. Banners will be displayed on Main St. and North St. in Downtown Morenci for Memorial Day, throughout the summer, and for Veteran's Day. At the end of the year, banners will be returned to families as a keepsake. Banners are $150 each, and a portion of the proceeds will support the Morenci American Legion. Applications are available at City Hall and on our website here. Applications, along with payment, in the form of cash or check (payable to American Legion Post 368), are accepted at City Hall. The deadline to submit is Thursday, April 6, however only 30 spaces are available, so don't delay. Please help us fill the streets with Hometown Hero pride by honoring a family member or friend in Downtown Morenci. The City of Morenci is providing a dumpster for bulky item dumping this Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the DPW facility located at 597 W. Chestnut St. (behind Wakefield Park). Residents may dispose of up to two bulky items per primary household. Check in will occur with a DPW laborer prior to dumping. Only one trip is allowed per primary household and the bulky items must have been generated from that residence. IDs will be verified and recorded, and violators will be turned away. This service is free of charge. No transportation is provided. For a list of acceptable and unacceptable items, please visit our website.
